How
You Can Support St. Andrew's Mission Trips
If you
would like to support these and future mission trips, you
can donate by check to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and put "Mission
Trip" in the memo line. The non-pledge offering at the services on
June 1, 2008 went into the restricted Mission Account at St. Andrew's.
This money will help pay for the trips by Thomas and Barbara. Any extra
monies donated will remain in the restricted account, as there is already
excitement among some members to be a part of a future mission trip. Any
and all donations are greatly appreciated.

Thomas Ward traveled
to the El Hogar school in Honduras from July 19-26, 2008.
Thomas was part of a group of 12 (9 youth
and 3 leaders) traveling from Church of the Epiphany, Winchester, MA, to
work in Honduras for 7 days. Begun as a school for
orphaned/abandoned boys, El Hogar school has now developed into three
"campuses" and started accepting girls two years ago.
There is an elementary school, a technical middle school and an
agricultural middle school, all residential.
Thomas worked on a construction
project, as they are planning another dormitory as the school continues
to grow. Money raised will buy construction supplies and school
supplies for the students. Thomas also spent time with the
students and enjoyed some great soccer games!

Barbara traveled to Ecuador from August 15-25, 2008.
Barbara joined the Mission Leadership
Program through the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. Barbara is
being trained, through a series of monthly meetings, to plan and lead
future mission trips. As part of the training, Barbara went ten days to Ecuador, as a member of a group of approximately 9 adults
visiting the brand new Episcopal Diocese in Ecuador and helped to build the first Episcopal chapel high in the Andes Mountains (she
was in one of the first groups of American missioners to visit this
underserved area).
In addition to building supplies, the
group brought gifts for the hosts and Bishop in Ecuador, as we begin
a new relationship with new members of our greater church, helping them
to know there are people who pray and support them, even though we live
differently, speak different languages and are many miles apart.
