In commemoration of Martin Luther’s death on February 18, 1546, and in recognition of the recent 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we will view and discuss the public television special Rick Steves’ Luther and the Reformation.
Steves, a self-described “proud Lutheran,” wrote and produced this video to be a teaching tool for churches and for the wider public. His goal was to explore the historic, economic, and social context of the Reformation and to show how it helped move Europe out of the Middle Ages and into our Modern Age. The video offers a broad view of the Reformation and the effect it had on the world from that time in history to our present age. A light lunch will be provided.
